Chief Executive Officer
Sheenal Patel is a co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of NVN Hotels, recently named one of the nation’s top hotel companies of 2015 by Hotel Management Magazine. In this role, Sheenal leads general corporate strategy and all efforts related to property management. Sheenal is also Principal of NVN Hotels’ investment affiliate, Arbor Lodging Partners.
Prior to co-founding NVN Hotels, Sheenal was a Vice President with Related Capital Company, a New York based investment firm, where he was responsible for the origination of approximately $800 million of tax-exempt bond transactions for LIHTC multifamily projects located throughout the United States. Sheenal started his career in the Leveraged Finance Group within the Investment Banking division of CIBC World Markets.
Sheenal earned his BA in Economics from the University of Michigan and at the London School of Economics completed a year-long General Course program in mathematics. He is a member of the IHG Owners Association Industry Advocacy Committee, a member of the President’s Circle of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and is active in alumni affairs for Phillips Exeter Academy.
Task Force Director of Sales
Gay Haynes is Task Force Director of Sales for NVN Hotels. Gay brings over 30 years of hospitality sale experience to the team. Gay has had experience with full-service, select-service, resort, and conference center hotels throughout the United States. In her role as Vice President of Sales, Gay is responsible for the overall sales strategy and efforts of all hotels managed by NVN Hotels. Gay works directly with hotel sales teams, the Vice President of Operations, and third-party service providers to oversee direct sales efforts, revenue management, and ongoing training. Prior to joining NVN Hotels, Gay held various leadership positions in the hospitality industry including leading sales teams at large hotels managed by Hilton Hotels, Quorum Hotels & Resorts, Crestline Hotels & Resorts, and Destination Hotels & Resorts.
Gay is a certified hotel sales professional and attended the University of South Alabama and University of Northern Colorado.
Vice President of Finance
Peter Olczak is the Vice President of Finance for NVN Hotels. In this role, Peter is responsible for accounting matters and financial reporting for hotels managed by NVN Hotels. Peter works directly with the corporate team and hotel accounting teams, and manages a staff of third-party accounting professionals to oversee all accounting and financial reporting efforts and provide on-going guidance and training. Prior to joining NVN Hotels, Peter was a Manager in the national real estate practice at McGladrey LLP where he worked on engagements for real estate operators and private equity funds in a variety of real estate asset classes.
Peter received his BS in Accounting from the University of Florida and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Illinois.
Asset Management Associate
Monika is involved in all aspects of asset management of NVN-managed hotels, with a particular focus on accounting, HR, and social media. Prior to joining NVN Hotels, Monika was an Account Executive with Havas Worldwide.
Monika earned a BA in Communications from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Regional Director of Operations and Sales
Jamie Hopwood is Regional Director of Operations and Sales at NVN Hotels. In this capacity, he manages day to day operations of NVN’s extended-stay portfolio. Jamie has 20 years of hotel management experience and most recently served as a General Manager for White Lodging Company, where he managed various Marriott and Hyatt select service and extended-stay brands.
Jamie earned his BS from Southern New Hampshire University in Restaurant and Hotel Management, and is a four-time White Lodging Excalibur winner for excellence in guest scores and financial results.
Vamsi Bonthala is a co-founder and Principal of NVN Hotels, recently named one of the nation’s top hotel companies of 2015 by Hotel Management Magazine. In this role, Vamsi is involved in general corporate strategy and efforts related to asset management and client development. Vamsi is also Chief Executive Officer of NVN Hotels’ hospitality investment affiliate, Arbor Lodging Partners. Prior to co-founding NVN Hotels, Vamsi practiced corporate law in the Private Equity group of Kirkland & Ellis LLP and the Real Estate Group of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP.
Vamsi earned his BA in Economics and Political Science from the University of Michigan, where he received Class Honors and University Honors. Vamsi earned his JD from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was an Associate Editor of the Michigan Journal of International Law. Vamsi has been a speaker at industry events, is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and the President’s Circle of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and is active in alumni affairs for Phillips Exeter Academy. A previous Ambassador of the IHG Owners Association and a previous board member of the Directors of Open Books, he was recently recognized as of the Real Estate Forum Magazine’s 50 Under 40 of 2015.
Vice President of Operations
John O’Connor is Vice President of Operations for NVN Hotels. John brings over 25 years of successful leadership experience to the team. Over the course of his career, John has had direct involvement in the management of independent and franchised (including Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Choice, Wyndham, La Quinta and Stouffer brands) full-service, select-service, extended-stay, and conference center hotels throughout the country. In his role as Vice President of Operations, John is responsible for the operations and performance of all hotels managed by NVN Hotels. In particular, John works closely with hotel staff, the Vice President of Sales & Revenue Management, and the Corporate Controller in managing day to day operations, training, sales, food & beverage, human resources and accounting. John’s responsibilities also include the guidance and direction of hotel leadership on operational efficiencies, standards and execution of hotel management core competencies. Prior to joining NVN Hotels, John held various leadership positions in the hospitality industry including most recently Regional Vice President with White Lodging where he oversaw multiple Marriott, Hilton, and IHG properties and was a key team member in the development and implementation of the “White Lodging Way”, and prior to White Lodging, Director of Operations with Hospitality Management Corporation where he oversaw the development, opening, and operations of numerous hotels.
John received his B.S. in Hotel and Resort Management from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Vice President of Human Resources
Gina Schuster is the Vice President of Human Resources at NVN Hotels. In this role, she leads the HR function for the entire NVN Hotels portfolio, a critical role in the people-oriented business of hotel management. Gina is responsible for all employee relations and labor-related matters, as well as all other aspects of the HR function.
Before joining NVN Hotels, Gina spent several years with Starwood Hotels & Resort Worldwide working as the Assistant Director of Human Resources for the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers. In addition to providing support for over 800 associates, she focused on strategic recruitment and retention, executive leadership development, and labor relations. Most recently, Gina worked as the Director of Human Resources for The McCrone Group, where she started the HR department and established an HR foundation properly aligned with the organization’s vision and culture. With her seasoned background in the human resources discipline, Gina provides the expertise to ensure the proper management of all personnel matters.
Gina earned a BA from Lewis University in Organizational Leadership, and is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management and the National Association for Professional Women.
Vice President of Sales
Zachary Tharp is Vice President of Sales at NVN Hotels. In this role, Zach oversees all hotel sales and marketing strategies which include budget development, brand maximization and sales training initiatives. Zach has over 15 years of experience in hotel sales, having worked with a range of Marriott, Hilton and IHG branded hotels. Most recently, Zach served as Area Director of Sales for Pillar Hotels, where he oversaw the sales departments at each property and developed strategic sales plans.
Zach earned his BA from University of Indianapolis in Elementary Education, and is a committee member of the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau Golf Committee, currently serving as co-chair of the Eli Welch Memorial Golf Outing.
